Diagnosis

Today Mike went to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He does have trigeminal neuralgia. The doctor explained that he was born with this condition. For now medication is the first line of defense. He is also scheduled for a MRI to make sure nothing else is going on. The MRI is at 2:00 CST. We will get the results of the MRI on Monday. Below is a website to better explain this disorder.

40 Days

It never hurts to let something go during this season we call Lent.  This season I will be blogging more and refraining from Facebook.  I am not on Facebook a lot but it is a great way to be in touch.  But, for now, I am going to blog from time to time (either here or on on All Things New).  So if you want to keep up on what is happening…here are 3 ways to do so in the next 40 days….

Feb 15 I celebrated another birthday. Mike took the day off of work. I had a white chocolate mocha and a birthday cake pop from Starbucks. The cake pop was delicious! We went to lunch with my sister and I received all 3 books of the Hunger Games series! Now I just have to find time to read….welcome to another year….I am thankful for another year to be used by God…I am grateful for life.

Jeremiah 29:1-14

Pastor Daniel Edwards preached this message on 1/8/12 (pm service). I am still thinking about this message…sometimes we can get so wrapped up in our individual lives that we forget there is a city out there. We pray for many, many things but do we pray for our cities in which we live? When we pray for our cities we are remembering others…and not merely ourselves. Furthermore, be salt and light in your city. Be present while the day is still called today. Heaven is going to be beyond our wildest imagination but let us focus on the here and now. When you look through the Bible Jesus was completely present and mindful of His time on earth. He remained focused on cities and people even though He was aware of the end. He taught. He healed. He loved. He prayed. I love that He is our greatest example of being among others and living life to full potential. May we follow His example and be the same. Pray for your city, seek peace and remember to be a part of your city; we are not home yet.

~ Live among the people (v 5)
–>build homes
–>have children
–>build a life

~ Seek the peace of the city (v 7)
–>seek to do good in that city
–>live for the benefit of the city you live in
–>we can become unfamiliar with our city if we only focus on our church friends/family.
–>pray for your city

~ Don’t listen to prophets that are untrue (v 8)
–>Test all things spoken against God’s Word.

~ We are not home yet! (v 11)
–>Pray for the welfare and peace for our city.
–>This is our temporary home. However, while we are here we need to be here.

Past and Present

Fall 2011

During the end of November we moved into our home. We love it!! The home is all one level. 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths. 2,396 square feet. There are several updates and the home has character. It is also a split bedroom design which also appealed to me. There are skylights and vaulted ceilings. My kitchen is amazing. Granite, goose neck faucet and deep sinks. Even the bathrooms have goose neck faucets that move. Can you tell that I love my new home? We have a large walk in closet and private full master bath with double sinks…I love it! We thank God every day for our home. Such a blessing.

We decorated for Christmas. Stockings hung on the fireplace. Oh…yes…we have a gorgeous fireplace :) It is a gas fireplace which we are very happy with. A few lights decorated the outside. The tree went up too.

After the new year the tree came down and we are finishing unpacking the rest of our belongings.

This sums up October 2011-right now.

Moving Timeline

We packed and moved out of 1101 S. Lombard 10/28/11.

We closed on our Lombard property 11/4/11.

We closed on out new home 11/17/11.

We received the keys a little after 9 am Saturday 11/19/11. And moving in began!!

We are currently unpacking and settling in. Christmas decor is up too!

Every day is busy but we love our new home.

Summer 2011

It has been the hottest summer!  Couple heat and humidity…yikes!  But I love where we live.

VBS

I had so much fun!  My kids were awesome!  They learned “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”  They were so cute doing the motions!  I miss having Aiden but he has moved up and is doing well!  The kids learned that there are no limits with God.  Cool stuff!  They looked forward to craft time every day!  I am thankful the crafts were simple…LOL.  Kids learn and retain so much even at the ages of 2-4!  I am truly blessed to be able to teach them!  A huge thank you to Pastor Daniel, Nicole and all of the children’s families for providing a place for them!  I love watching their growth.  God is sooo good!  I am so thankful for my years in college.  I also got to spend the week with Mikayla and Hunter.  Love, love, love them!

Vacation

VBS ended on the 15th of July.  EARLY the following morning begins our trip to Washington DC!  We had so much fun on our trip!  I love history.  I loved taking classes in high school and college….american history, biblical history…I loved it all!  I remember telling my parents throughout college the different things I would learn.  The Bible truly came alive to me during history….loved every minute!  American history….to walk where so many have gone before….Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln…as you know the list is endless!  I was able to see the Declaration of Independence (so faded you really do not see a lot but it is there) and Constitution.  I also saw the Bill of Rights.  I saw Thomas Jefferson’s library.  I saw DC at night.  I saw the Capitol.  I saw the exterior of the White House….we saw the monuments. I saw Mount Vernon. I saw Gettysburg (not in entirety).  Each day my mind was so full….but I loved it!  We walked everywhere in 100 degree plus heat!  We rode the metro.  Here is my twitter feed:
